Brothers
Meet the active brothers of the chapter.
Ryan Baker - Consul
Journalism, Philosophy, Dalhousie Uni.

Linus (Ze) “Dinosaur” Yu - Pro Consul & Webmaster
3rd year Master of Electrical Engineering at Dal and originally from Beijing, China.
I will make my big money for engineering after graduated (hopefully). I play a lot of sports, like soccer, basketball, badminton, ping-pong, tennis and swimming. But, my best is beer-pong and I am the best player in the house.
I joined Sigma Chi because true brotherhood lives here. I found my real brothers in fraternity (I didn’t have one since born because of some mutt policy). It’s my second family here and I love the 2nd street as well.

I had no idea there were Fraternities in Halifax until one of my best
friends from the 4th grade (Calvin Rideout) asked me to come out to
some events at his Fraternity. I'm proud to say it was one of the best
choices I ever made and now his Fraternity is mine as well. I've met
the most amazing group of guys and learned so much about myself since
joining.
I've been a member of the Canadian Forces for three years and the
leadership and skills that Sigma Chi has taught me has given me the
tools to excel past what I ever thought possible with my career.
Overall, Sigma Chi has given me more then I can ever repay, In Hoc!

I don't really care how much money I make, just as long as it will work for me.
I'm an outdoors sports person. Whitewater kayaking, Kite boarding and a little bit of Surfing are my main interests however I'm always up for a game of golf or tennis.
Sigma Chi is not just in Halifax, there are over 250 chapters cross North America and it has one of the best developed leadership programs in the Greek world. I joined Sigma Chi in Quebec and now I'm in Halifax for good times as always. Sigma Chi is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to add to their network of true individuals and to be put into leadership roles. Thats why I joined.

Bachelor of Arts
Major:Criminology
After graduation, I would like to persue a career in Law or some sort
of Law
Enforcement or corrections.
I joined the fraternity because it offered everything I was looking for
from
the
university experience, and is still continuing to live up to those
expectations. I saw it as a great way to make some great friends, and
life long
bonds. As well as an outlet for me, to let go of my old self and define
a new
me, and would allow me to live up to my full potential.

3rd Year International Devleopment/Business at Dalhousie Univeristy
I joined Sigma Chi after being encouraged by a friend to check it out, As I started to get involved with the organization, friends from my other social circles were also getting involved with Sigma Chi. So thats why I'm here and why I haven't left yet.
When I'm not working or in class you can find me napping, listening to my music too loud or trying to figure out the next prank on Cali and how we're going to make Chippers mad.
Favorite Quote "There comes a time when every life goes off course. In this desperate moment you must choose your direction. Will you fight to stay on the path while others tell you who you are? Or will you label yourself? Will you be honored by your choice? Or will you embrace your new path? Each morning you choose to move forward or to simply give up."

I wanted to join Sigma Chi after meeting the brothers, learning about the values & beliefs the organization held...and also after learning that my Dad was a Sig!

I've decided to join the fraternity after becoming good friends with some of the guys and discovering what Sigma Chi has to offer as an organization. There's a lot more to it than one might think. The longer you're in, the more you discover.

I'm a Haligonian born and raised, in my second year at Saint Mary's University studying Political Science and International Development Studies. I was introduced to the Sigma Chi Fraternity through my Father and a mutual friend of ours. I quickly became intrigued and excited by the environment the Fraternity and the Brothers created within.
Once I became a Brother of the Gamma Rho Chapter I took upon the role of the SMU Rush Chair, and I plan to take on further roles in the future if all goes well. Once I graduate I plan to work within different economical sectors of governments throughout. I enjoy lifting weights, Shakespeare, and any Tom Cruise movie.

The reason I joined the Sigma Chi fraternity is because I needed a place to live. I moved into the house, knowing nothing about Fraternities, other than what I saw on Old School/Animal House..
.
It didn’t take long though for me to realize that this was something I wanted to be a part of. From being able to take part in events locally here in Halifax, travelling across North America to build leadership skills, to running into another Brother in the Toronto Airport, instantly being able to start up a conversation on the fact that he is in the same Fraternity as I, this is something that has provided me with great opportunities for my future.
Oh, and there are still a lot of Old School/Animal House moments that I don’t remember either.

Why I joined Sigma Chi: I was asked by one of the brothers to come by and check it out, and I've never wanted to turn back since. My father is also a Sig, from Western University, and he supports me 100%. Joining Sigma Chi has been an awesome experience. Every brother in this fraternity is unique and that makes for a great atmosphere. Whether its the parties, charity work, events or just chilling, I find that Sigma Chi's excel at it. I'm a new brother in this Fraternity, so I have much to discover but I've learned one thing: This was the right choice :)
I hope you make that choice too.

- Ryan Macintosh
4th year at Dal doing Recreation Management.
I play badminton and rugby at University of King's College where I'm officially registered although all of my classes are taken at Dalhousie.
I hope to be an athletic director at a university some day.
My original reason for pledging to Sigma Chi was because I already knew a few of
the brothers and it seemed like a great fun, party atmosphere since I already
had relationships with some. Although quickly after I realized that there is a
lot more to it then just having fun and partying. I just pledged winter
semester of 2009 and during the pledging process I found it really hard trying
to keep up with everything in pledging because at the same time I was training
for Nationals in badminton and went the week before initiation to the
tournament. Everyone of the brothers were very supportive of me and helped me
catch up on things I missed and cheered me from Hali when I was in Toronto
competing. I now know that this fraternity will be with me for life because
it's like an extension of my family where you get the same support and
motivation as you would from your own parents which is why I'm happy to call
these people my brothers.
