Brothers
Meet the active brothers of the chapter.

Taayo "Hibernate" Simmonds
I'm a Halifax native in my 3rd year at Dal. My major is Poli Sci and I hope to enter political service after I graduate. One thing that attracted me to Sigma Chi is its emphasis on academics and community service. For instance last year we raised $2,700 for the IWK Children's Hospital.
My biggest problem with my fellow brothers is that none of them can
touch me in NHL '07 or Madden '07. After I win I ALWAYS offer to teach them how to
play or I suggest that they practice more but they never listen. Rob and Jeremy
are probably the worst for this.

Robert Hingley
My name is Robert Hingley and I am going into my fourth year at Saint Mary's University, where I am studying Accounting and Marketing. I joined Sigma Chi in the fall semester 2004. During my years in the fraternity I have held positions of Annotator, Tribune, Trampathon Chair and this past year I was the Consul. I also sit on the telethon operations committee for the IWK on behalf of the fraternity. At Saint Marys I am a frosh facilitator.
During my years with the fraternity I have the chance to travel to Muncie Indiana twice and to Boston, where myself and other brothers got to spend time on Harvard, MIT and Boston College Universities. When I graduate I hope to achieve my Chartered Accountancy.

Kyle "SpeedRacer" Publicover
Business Major: Accounting
I am looking to Major in Accounting. My Career goal is to work as a Highly respected accountant. The Reason why I joined Sigma Chi, It seemed to be a long story unlike some joining the fraternity for the "wrong reasons". I
played sports my whole life, and one year in my hockey career,
I had a coach by the name of Chad Conrad (Great Guy, Angry Hockey coach though). We stayed at the hockey rink one day and we just played around on the ice having fun and we got to talking, and he told me alot about the fraternity, and it dawned on me to have such a great connection with your hockey coach and just be able to talk freely to him about anything, got me wondering about the fraternity itself and I belived the other brothers would be similar in away to approach him and easy going, and I gave it a shot, cause you never know until you do it. And at the end of the story I became a brother and I feel the experience has changed my life for the better. I've mad strong bonds between brothers/guys I would never of gave a second chance to if not for the fraternity.

Gabe Williams
I go to Saint Mary's University, began my studies in 2003 and am graduating in 2008. I'm taking International Development Studies, completing my degree with honours this year. I'm a member of the IDS Society. After school I would like to begin work with a non-governmental organisation in South Africa or Latin America.
Why I joined Sigma Chi: The partnerships and the friendships that I witnessed between brothers initially attracted me to the fraternity. Before I even became a member, I was already being treated like a friend, respected and understood. Friendship on such scale was something I had hitherto notbeen exposed to, and Sigma Chi has delivered on so many other bases soon after I became a brother. Since, I've been doing my part to give my share back to the fraternity, in part to create a great atmosphere for new brothers and in part to see our chapter continue to be successful.

I joined the fraternity for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to party
and meet
lots of girls. I wanted to travel across North America and be able to
stay at a
chapter house for free. While I did get all of that there are other
aspects I
feel have been much more valuable. Since joining I have gained a new
confidence
and deep sense of personal responsiblity. I feel more comfortable in a
leadership role and have life long friends as a result. I will forever
owe
Sigma Chi.

I joined the fraternity because it offered everything I was looking for
from
the
university experience, and is still continuing to live up to those
expectations. I saw it as a great way to make some great friends, and
life long
bonds. As well as an outlet for me, to let go of my old self and define
a new
me, and would allow me to live up to my full potential.

I've decided to join the fraternity after becoming good friends with

you're in, the more you discover.

I initially joined the fraternity because I was living in the house at the time and heard about all the great experiences my roommates were having. I also liked the idea of being able to do charity work with an organization of my peers. Since, I have realized that Sigma Chi is much more than my initial expectations and I cannot begin to describe what it has meant to my university life.
The brothers, events and atmosphere in the house have made me a strong believer in the ideals of Sigma Chi.

Linus (Ze) “Dinosaur” Yu
I am going to my 2nd year Master of Electrical Engineering at Dal and I am from Beijing, where the Olympics just held.
I will make my big money for engineering after graduated (hopefully). I play a lot of sports, like soccer, basketball, badminton, ping-pong, tennis and swimming. But, my best is beer-pong and I am the best player in the house.
I joined Sigma Chi because true brotherhood lives here. I found my real brothers in fraternity (I didn’t have one since born because of some mutt policy). It’s my second family here and I love the 2nd street as well.

I'm a Haligonian born and raised, in my second year at Saint Mary's University studying Political Science and International Development Studies. I was skeptical about Fraternities at first. why would anyone join a club where all you do is hang out with other guys all day. After meeting the other guys though I realized there is so much more to it than just that. You meet the kind of characters who really do become your brother.
